How to scan from printer to computer

To scan a document from your printer to your computer, follow these general steps. The process may vary slightly depending on your printer model and operating system. Make sure your printer is connected to your computer and powered on, and that it has scanning capabilities.

Windows

  1. Place the document you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the document feeder, depending on your printer model.
  2. On your computer, type "Windows Scan" or "Scan" in the search bar next to the "Start" button and select the "Windows Scan" app from the results. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
  3. In the Windows Scan app, select your scanner (printer) from the "Scanner" dropdown menu.
  4. Choose the scan type (e.g., Color, Grayscale, or Black and White) and the file format you want to save the scan in (e.g., JPEG, PNG, or PDF).
  5. Click "Scan" to start the scanning process.
  6. Once the scanning is complete, click "View" to see the scanned image or document. You can also find it in the "Scanned Documents" folder in your "Pictures" library.

macOS

  1. Place the document you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the document feeder, depending on your printer model.
  2. Open the "Preview" app, which comes pre-installed on macOS.
  3. Click "File" in the top menu bar, and then click "Import from [Your Scanner Name]."
  4. In the "Import" window, choose the scan settings like resolution, color mode, and file format.
  5. Click "Scan" to start the scanning process.
  6. Once the scanning is complete, you can save the scanned image or document by clicking "File" in the top menu bar and selecting "Save."

Alternatively, you can use the "Image Capture" app, which also comes pre-installed on macOS.

Using Printer Manufacturer's Software

Many printer manufacturers provide their own scanning software that may offer more features or better compatibility with your printer. This software usually comes on a CD with the printer, or it can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Install the software and follow the on-screen instructions to scan documents from your printer to your computer.

Remember to check the user manual for your specific printer model or the manufacturer's website for detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips.
